Blinds to Make Your Room Irresistible

Appearing in every detective movie, integrating in almost any kind of setting, are blinds. No matter what kind of impression you want your home to portray, blinds are sure to complement it. Not only are they aesthetically appealing to homes, but they also do not compromise on their function of blocking out sunlight. In fact, they do a decent job of keeping light away from your eyes and you away from the public’s eye. Blinds are normally slatted vertically or horizontally with trolley devices that can control their angle to allow for the adjustment of the amount of light coming in. Now that you know how amazing blinds are, let us get down to which kinds stand out among the plethora of blinds.

What are the types of blinds?

Since there are so many things to consider when you are getting blinds such as the type of blinds to get because there are just simply so many of them.

Venetian Blinds

Throughout the years, Venetian blinds have gained traction and earned themselves a place as one of the most popular types of blinds out there. Venetian blinds are horizontally slatted which are connected by cords of fabric. While there are many designs and patterns to choose from in the market, Venetian blinds come mostly in wood. They are most suitable for narrow windows and these places are usually rooms like bedrooms, kitchens, and home offices. This is because the wooden Venetian blinds tend to bring more color into the room making it seem livelier.

Mini Blinds

Next on the list are mini blinds that have an exterior that is largely congruent to that of Venetian blinds. The only difference is that they have thinner slats and instead of wood, are usually made with aluminum. This also makes them less pricey as compared to Venetian blinds who use natural wood for their slats. Not only that, but they are also less prone to getting moldy due to wetter climates or after long periods of cleaning. Plus with their thin stature, it makes it even easier to match them with your interior.

Vertical Blinds

As stated in the name itself, vertical blinds are indeed made up of vertical slats. Like mini blinds, they are also often made using aluminum which puts them in the category of the more affordable ones. They also function similarly to Venetian blinds in that they can also be rotated or pulled to the side. They are most commonly found hanging over sliding doors or large windows in an office. They are good tools to control the amount of incoming light and also to ensure that privacy is granted.

Panel Track Blinds

Similar to vertical blinds are panel track blinds. However, instead of aluminum, they are made using cloth slats. They are also not purely blinds as they are a mixture of blinds and shades. Furthermore, each slat is built to be independent of one another which means to say that when one slat is moved, the other remains unaffected. As a result, panel track blinds can be moved from any direction and even in the middle. Thus, if you are someone who enjoys this flexibility, panel track blinds might just be the blinds for you.

Roller Blinds

These blinds do not have slats. Rather, they have a simple mechanism that allows a single roll of attached fabric to be “rolled down” from a casing that can be placed above your window. Roller blinds can be used with any type of window and are very versatile. Overall, they are a fuss-free and simple-to-use type of window blind. Smart Blinds

You read that right, just like there are smart technologies out in the world, there are also things like smart blinds in the market. So what does this entail? It means that just like how you can control the TV or lights with your smart devices, you can do the same with your blinds. This eliminates the need for you to even travel to your blinds to affect any changes to it. A simple command or tapping of a button will do the trick for you. If that still feels like a hassle, you can even time the opening of the blinds such that they automatically open and close at fixed times. With this much functionality, do not expect it to come cheap, of course. It is certainly convenient but it comes at a cost!

What kind of blind materials?

We addressed many material questions when we were talking about the type of blinds available, however, this does not mean that Venetian blinds necessarily need to be made with wood or mini blinds have to be created using aluminum. You can work any material with any type of blinds as you see fit. Below are some of the more popular materials to utilize.

Wood

Wood is a good option to look at because most kinds of wood can be used to make blinds. Other than that, they are also appreciated for the warm appearance that it brings to rooms. They can look good on windows of any sizes although the larger ones would better make use of them. While wood may seem like a stellar choice, they also come at a heftier cost and trickier maintenance because of the fact that you are using natural wood.

Faux Wood

To overcome the problem of price and maintenance, but still retain the allure of natural wood, faux wood steps into the market to try to fulfill that role. Because they are faux wood, they are more water-resistant, meaning fewer cases of molding and that cleaning them will not prove as much a hassle as natural wood. It is also much cheaper.

Metal

When we say metal, we typically talk about aluminum. Their reflective surfaces bring relief to a lot of those living in warmer climates as they are not only able to reflect light away from your room but also reflect the heat that accompanies it. This keeps your room cool and fresh. Plus, they are really easy to maintain.

Plastic

For plastic blinds, they are usually made out of PVC. Even though plastic might be slightly lackluster compared to the aforementioned materials, it is compensated by its extremely affordable prices. They are also less prone to breakage due to their naturally malleable material.

So, every type of blinds and materials used will have its ups and downs, the important thing is to determine what kind of look you want your house to have!
