Christmas in July just came and went and it got me so excited about the cool seasons to come. Soon, we will be celebrating Halloween, Thanksgiving, and finally, Christmas! After the school season starts, time will fly by and there will be very little time to spend on Christmas shopping, so I figured I would get a head start this year and start preparing now. Here is how I am preparing for the Christmas season over the next few months:
CREATING MY LISTS:
- Who is receiving presents from me
Who am I seeing this year at Christmas? Do I have white elephant gift exchanges at any parties or work functions? Is there anyone that I gift even if I will not see them? All of these thoughts and more goes into the process of writing my list of who is receiving Christmas gifts for me. I want to make sure that I do not forget anyone, so this list is extremely important to me.
- The presents I am giving
I do not like to just give ‘any’ gift. I really put a lot of thought into who I am gifting and what they would like and really use. This way, they are happy and I feel good about the present I am giving! A lot goes into thinking about the gifts I give, so I just wanted to give you a few ideas. I love gifting experiences, so anything from a trip of a lifetime to a show that they have really been wanting to see is a great gift idea! A “subscription club” is also another great gifting opportunity. There are subscription clubs or boxes for just about anything now. Books, wine, chocolate, everything! If you know someone needs something for their home, try to get them that. If you have a child in college who really needs help with their apartment, or some bills, maybe take the chance to help them that way instead of getting them more clothes they will never wear. If you have young children, start a savings account. If you have a music lover, get them tickets to a band they love, or get them a new guitar or piano. For a movie lover, get them a few movies that they love, or think outside of the box and get them a movie replica sword from Swords of Northshire. With options like Braveheart, Deadpool, Kill Bill, and The Walking Dead, you are sure to find something that they will love! Swords of Northshire sells Samurai Swords, Ninja Swords, Knives, Custom Swords, and accessories, so you are not just limited to replica swords. They even offer an option to customize a Katana blade. Their Katana blades are hand forged using traditional methods and they are easy to customize using their interface which allows you to customize things like the blade length, material, the Ito color, Hamon Type, and more. If you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to swords, don’t fear! They offer a sword glossary with pictures to guide you along. If you are still lost, feel free to reach out to their awesome customer service team. Customer service is their “highest priority,” so you know that you will be well taken care of.
Before Christmas is here, I like to take inventory of all of my decor. From tree stands to ornaments and wreaths, I like to make sure that I have everything that I need. If I do not have something (let’s say my favorite ornaments broke), then I order it well before Christmas is here. The reason I do this is because you will have lower prices before the actual season AND I won’t feel rushed at the last minute. If you do end up needing more decor, take the opportunity to read up on new or fresh Christmas decorating ideas! On top of taking inventory of my decor, I also check for any gifts that I may have purchased throughout the year. If I randomly see something that I cannot live without (for a gift), I will purchase it and store it for Christmas.
Now that I have my lists taken care of, it is time to shop! I shop for my inventory, big gifts and everything in between ahead of time. This way, when the season arrives, I can soak it in and maybe get a few small gifts here and there without feeling like I am tight on money. This part is so much fun for me!
Because I am able to start planning now, once Christmas time is here, I can RELAX! Spending time with family is my top priority, so you will catch me on the couch watching movies, singing Christmas carols, or making cookies for santa instead of in the shopping mall trying to get through crowds after Thanksgiving!
