Hair Color Chalks are hitting the scene as a fun new hair trend ! With Hair Color Chalks you can quickly add temporary color and style to any hair without chemical processing, which means DAMAGE FREE !
As a cosmetologist, I have clients who want their hair a certain way one visit and then the next time they want something totally different. Today they may want me to add highlights to their dark hair, then next time they may want more. Well now they want to add a touch of pink and maybe blue. Next thing we know, they are sitting under the salon dryer for a 30 minute deep conditioning treatment in hopes of repairing their now damaged hair. No matter what a hairstylist suggests or recommends, a client wants what they want and it is our job to give it to them. That is where the Hair Chalk will come in handy !
These hair chalks have been used on all colors of hair , every shade from blonde to black and they show up fabulous! You do not need to have platinum blonde hair to use these. I had 2 models for my demonstration of these chalks. My 9yr old daughter whose hair is “dirty blonde” with highlights and my 16yr old daughter who is a “chestnut” color. Notice both my models are children? Well that is because the Hair Color Chalks are perfect for kids, because they wash right out! I have used temporary hair color before and it stained the hair, these did not. My youngest’s most blonde hair strands were completely clear of color after shampooing.
Alright, so lets see just how easy it is to apply the Hair Chalks !
(Please forgive my video quality, my only resource is my phone and it is hard to video AND perform) 🙂
There are 2 effective ways of applying the chalks. The first way is to use a wet chalk on dry hair as seen here : Hair Chalking
The other way, which is the one I did, you will see below. Wetting the hair strand , rubbing the chalk on the hair, then flatiron the hair till dry to set the color.
TIP* If you are going to add light & dark hair chalk colors to your hair, I suggest doing the light ones first, that way the color will not transfer from your flatiron onto the light pieces and change its color. You can easily clean your flatiron by wiping it with a damp cloth when it is cool.
Warning* You run the risk of staining your hair if you try to use regular chalk or markers. Hair Color Chalks are specially formulated soft pastels designed for hair.

I have also seen a lot of pictures online of the Hair Chalks used on Black hair, it works great! So if you have really dark hair and you want to add some damage free temporary color, you should absolutely search images online!
I am so glad we got to try these, I have nothing negative to report about them except I actually wish it lasted just a little longer, but the main perk is that the chalks are temporary and they are super easy to use! So, we will just keep reapplying! I am going to add some red to a few small sections behind the ear on myself tomorrow! 🙂
The Girls and I thank the wonderful people over at Hair Color Chalks for allowing us to test this really cool product!
