Enhance Your Beauty Routine With Professional Eyebrow Waxing

Eyebrow waxing is a great way to shape and maintain your eyebrows. Not only does it remove unwanted hair, it also makes the regrowth of new hairs slower and more controlled.

Finding a Good Salon

A professional salon provides more precise results than you can achieve at home. Your esthetician will use soft or hard wax (soft wax clings to the skin and hair and is removed with a fabric strip; hard wax only adheres to the hair and can be removed with a paper towel). While tweezing plucks unwanted hairs one at a time, it’s less precise than waxing and can leave your brows patchy. Also, tweezing can cause the follicle to grow coarser hairs.

To find a good salon, look for one specializing in precise and painless eyebrow waxing solutions. The best places will have a solid track record, positive customer reviews, and recommendations from friends. The sizing of the salon is important, too. Make sure it’s large enough to accommodate your desired clientele without being too big that you’re paying for more space than you need. Also, be sure to choose a location that’s easily accessible for your clients.

Defining Your Brows

Eyebrows are pivotal features that magnify your beauty, and getting them shaped properly can do wonders for your face. If you’ve over-plucked your brows in the past or have naturally thin eyebrows, you can fill them in to look fuller and more natural. To do so, choose a safe waxing method for your skin type. You’ll want to avoid using strip waxes made with harsh chemicals that can irritate sensitive skin.

Before waxing, use a mirror or a photograph to figure out the shape you’d like your brows to take. Stand back from the mirror to see how your brows look from a distance, and note whether they’re balanced and symmetrical.

Once you’ve settled on a shape, communicate it clearly to your esthetician. Having reference images to share will help ensure you are on the same page. Then, your esthetician will cleanse the area to remove makeup and dirt and apply a pre-wax oil that helps prevent the wax from sticking to your skin.

Preparing for Waxing

Hair is removed from its roots using soft or hard wax during waxing. It is applied to the skin in small increments, and when the wax has hardened, a strip is quickly removed from the skin in the direction of hair growth, removing the unwanted hair.

Before your waxing appointment, let your eyebrow hair grow slightly. The hair should be a minimum of 1/8 to 1/4 inch long for the wax to grab onto it properly. Also, refrain from tweezing in between your appointments.

It would help to arrive at your waxing appointment makeup-free, particularly avoiding brow powder or filler. This will allow your esthetician to see the natural shape of your brows, making it easier for them to follow that line during the waxing process. You should also inform your esthetician if you currently use facial products or cosmetic injectables, as these can make the skin sensitive to waxing.

Post-Wax Care

Unlike plucking, which removes a single hair at a time, waxing nabs multiple hairs simultaneously. This makes it a more efficient hair removal, resulting in less regrowth than plucking.

Before the waxing process begins, your esthetician will consult with you about skin sensitivities and determine your desired brow shape. Then, they will clean your brow area to ensure smooth treatment. Afterward, they’ll apply a hydrating oil that moonlights as a protective barrier between the skin and the wax.

Following post-wax care instructions is important because tearing at the top layer of the skin opens pores, which can be susceptible to bacteria. Avoid working out or swimming after a wax and using lotions with pore-clogging ingredients. Instead, opt for a lightweight moisturizer with cooling aspects to soothe skin after the wax. It’s best to use a calming lotion that contains aloe vera. You can also purchase a post-wax soothing pad to keep on hand.
