What We Thought
This year after not having an infant in our house for nearly 4 years we welcomed William. He came into the world at only 6 lbs 4 oz at 37 weeks gestational age. After several stressful weeks the doctors thought this was the best option and into the world he came. He was the smallest baby I had ever held, diapered, dressed or put into a car seat. At his appointment the day after we left the hospital he had dropped down to 5 lbs 15 oz. I felt like I was going to break him in half just doing simple everyday tasks. He was cold, seemed so fragile and while I knew that so many babies came into the world smaller than him (myself included at 5 lbs 9 oz) I was a very very nervous Mom.
Lets fast-forward to now; he will be 9 months old and weighs in at well over 25 pounds. Yes, you read that right, 25 lbs of chunk and we is into everything. He is even starting to pull himself up and wants to walk… or run… to catch up to his brother.
Notice the gigantic changes that he has made, but with those changes some some changes in what car seat to use. I couldn’t carry him very long in the typical carrier style infant seat and honestly he just didn’t fit. It made trips even to the grocery store hard. I spoke to his doctor who suggested moving into a stationary seat and sticking with that. Life became a lot easier, especially since receiving the Evenflo SureRide DLX. He is more comfortable in the seat itself, car rides are a lot quieter for all of us and he is just more at ease with travel.
I feel that this seat was easy to install in our 4 door truck, but also easy to remove so that when we have to travel in a different vehicle we do not have any issues there either. This would make an excellent secondary seat as well that is kept just for traveling in other vehicles (think Grandparents) because of its ease to install. This seat retails for less than $70 on Amazon and while it won’t break the bank, your child will be safe and sound and in our case a lot more comfortable.
