About Collage.com

We’re a little bit different from most companies — and we’re proud of it. Collage.com co-founders and childhood friends Kevin Borders and Joe Golden were students at the University of Michigan when Kevin ran into a problem: he wanted to create a one-of-a-kind anniversary collage for his girlfriend, Jen, and there wasn’t any software up to the task. He teamed up with Joe, and together they developed the software that would become Collage.com.

What began as a literal labor of love (Kevin and Jen are now married) grew into something bigger, and Kevin and Joe decided to turn their project into a business. Today, they lead a fast-growing team of about 50 employees dedicated to making custom products easy for everyone.

What We Thought

Recently I was asked by Collage.com to work on a review of 2 products. Immediately I had an idea to make keepsake blankets for both of our boys as Christmas gifts.  I wanted something that would help them to always remember what their lives were like at the same time frames, so I chose birth-6 months.

PHOTO BLANKETS TURN WARM MEMORIES INTO COZY AFTERNOONS.

The first 6 months of a child’s life can be some of the most chaotic times in a parents life, but most of us are always snapping photos and of course these days posting those photos on our social media accounts. As soon as I got onto collage.com to start the process of designing I noticed that they had an upload from Facebook option for photos. I was in heaven! No having to remember which memory cards held which photos. I just logged into Facebook and let the good times roll… along with a few tears especially when going back 4 years to see photos of our oldest and his first several months on this earth.

Designing our blankets was super easy. I had been given some really easy to follow instructions on how to order so I set to making 1 blanket at a time starting with Jack. I uploaded the photos and let Collage.com do the rest of the work as far as placement of the photos on the blanket. I added approximately 45 photos to his blanket which was a 60×80 Sherpa fleece material.

I loved being able to add print to the bottom of each blanket and added the boys full birth names as well as their actual birth date.

Ordering the blanket for William was a mixture of uploading from Facebook as well as my desktop computer. His blanket ended up having more photos than Jack’s but again I let Collage.com do its magic and it arranged the photos perfectly. I really had no order that I wanted the pictures to be in so having this automatic layout helped me so much.

Again this blanket was a Sherpa fleece and also measured 60×80.

The blankets arrived via UPS and were packaged in garment bags with zippers. I totally cheated and presented Jack with his blanket right away. The moment was priceless when he realized that the photos on this blanket were him when he was a baby and showed us as a family of 3 at that time.

I couldn’t resist pulling out William’s and showing Jack the photos of us now as a family of 4. I love the images of Jack being an amazing big brother in the first months of William’s life and these blankets literally melted my heart.

Super soft from delivery, but let me tell you I have washed them both and they only get softer. I feel like with every single washing they are getting more soft which I did not think was even possible. I am also finding that no matter the washes (Jack sleeps with his nightly) that there is absolutely no image fading at all.

I fully recommend Collage.com to every single person that is looking to give a personalized gift this holiday season. We are adding Collage.com to our 2017 Holiday Gift Guide because literally there is a gift for everyone including canvas prints and photo albums!
