Girl’s Zip Hoodie Rash Guard by SunSkinz Product Review
Sun Protection Zone is one of the leading innovators of sun protective clothing and products since 2005. Over the past several years we have come out with multiple lines of 100% UVA & UVB maximum protection apparel and accessories for children and adults.
My family and I frequent the outdoors all year long and while we do live in Maine and have only about 3 true months of summer, we are aware that the sun is strong and can be harmful every day. I grew up in a house where we went to the beach almost every weekend and sun block was rarely used. I remember that baby oil was the “in” thing for someone to grab a nice tan. That is almost unheard of these days, or should be. With the heightened risk of Cancer and other skin diseases , more people are thinking about sun protection now than ever.
Most importantly, we are risk of damage to our skin from the sun on a daily basis. Gone are the days where you only needed to worry about protection when the sun was out. The sun is just as harmful on an overcast day and if you have ever spent a day on a boat you know what I am talking about. My husband and I fish , a lot and unfortunately, I am really bad about using sun screen. I almost never do. Well, one day this summer we left at about 7 am and spent about 8 hours on the boat fishing. It was cloudy, kind of looked like rain, we occasionally saw the sun but not much of it. I ended up with a major sun burn on my nose and forehead. I had no idea it was even happening! Some will say that the sun is actually the most dangerous when it is overcast or cloudy and that is because you do as I did , and do not think about it. The sun is always there and so is the danger.
My youngest daughter is very fair skinned and will burn easily when out in the sun even for a short amount of time. She will stay outside in the water or playing all day long during the nice weather. It is hard to keep up with applying sun blocks and I know she is not getting the protection she should be. So the Girl’s Hoodie Zip Long Sleeve Rash Guard is perfect. It is lightweight so she will not be really hot wearing it during a nice day at the lake, but it will also keep her a little warmer on those breezy cooler beach days. The hoodie zips up, is super cute with a layered look and even has loops on the sleeve that go over the middle finger to ensure the sleeves stay down over the hand providing maximum protection. They are available in either Pink with cute little flowers or Purple.
- Made from SunSkinz UV protection fabric
- 100% SPF
- Material is , in my own words, has a similar feeling like bathing suit so will comfortable and dries quickly
- Great for all seasons
- Machine washable on delicate and hang to dry
- The fabric resists salt and chlorine well
I was very impressed with the quality and feel of this hoodie. It is so soft , fit my daughter perfect and is made well. I noticed that the zipper is not cheap and should withstand quite a bit of use. This is one of my biggest pet peeves in zip ups for kids, the zippers ALWAYS break, so I noticed that right off. There is a small grouping of flowers near the shoulder and white stitching on the pink fabric that makes this really cute. Another thing I notice with hoodies is, well the hood. Sometimes on kids clothing they are way too big or way too small, meaning either the hood will fall down over their eyes or barely stay up on the head. This is the perfect sized hood, I can see her playing out with this on and the hood staying up.
She loves it and actually wore it all day when we received it even though she was indoors all day !
The SunSkinz Girls Zip Up Hoodie is available in sizes 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 in colors Pink or Purple and is very reasonably priced at $24. I know a lot of people who pay more than that for a bathing suit, so why not purchase something that will provide more a purpose. They also sell a line of Men’s and Women’s and other Youth options such as UV Shorts and One Piece Suit that are SO cute!!
