Have You Watched Stargirl? Season 2 Is on the Way

New Season

If you are a fan of action and adventure, you should watch The CW’s latest teen superhero drama series, Stargirl. After originally airing in May of 2020 on streaming service DC Universe and also The CW and receiving positive reviews, the show has been renewed for a second season. Stargirl Season 2 is currently under production and will air on The CW once filming is complete.

Plot and Storyline

Stargirl, created by executive producer Geoff Johns, follows the story of Courtney Whitmore, a teenage girl from Los Angeles who moves to Blue Valley, Nebraska with her mother and stepfather. While trying to settle in and adjust to her new home, she discovers the Cosmic Staff that was once owned by former superhero Starman, in her basement. Soon after the discovery, Whitmore learns that her stepfather, Pat Dugan, was once Starman’s sidekick and a superhero himself.

Whitmore assumes responsibility of the staff and becomes Stargirl, carrying on Starman’s legacy under Dugan’s mentorship. She creates a new generation of the Justice Society of America, recruiting the successors of the society’s original members to battle the evil Injustice Society of America. You can catch a glimpse of the new series in the trailer below.

Stargirl’s Cast and Crew

The show features a solid cast with Brec Bassinger taking the lead as Courtney Whitmore. Luke Wilson plays the part of Pat Dugan and the two make a delightful duo to watch. Amy Smart is cast as Barbara Whitmore, Courtney Whitmore’s mother.

Outside of Stargirl and her family, the team is joined by Hourman II (played by Cameron Gellman), Wildcat II (played Yvette Monreal), and Doctor Mid-Nite II (played by Anjelika Washington). These three characters make up the new members of the Justice Society of America.

Of course, no superhero story is complete without a villain. In this series, the villains appear in the form of the Injustice Society of America, whose members include Icicle (played by Neil Jackson), Brainwave (played by Christopher James Baker), and Dragon King (Nelson Lee), to name a few.

Reception and Reviews

Stargirl Season 1 has 13 episodes and received positive reviews from fans and critics. Fans of DC Comics will enjoy seeing this character come to life and will appreciate the crossover characters that have appeared on The CW’s Arrowverse. Viewers who are not familiar Stargirl’s story will enjoy this fun-filled adventure with traditional storylines of justice, revenge, good versus evil, and other themes that are typical of the comic book genre.

If you have not had a chance to watch this series, now is the perfect time to catch up. The release date for the second season has not been announced, but release is expected later this year.
