Heading Back to School with Crayola
We received the mentioned products in exchange for an honest review. The thoughts contained within this post are ours and may vary from the thoughts of others.
When I was a child the idea of getting the back to school list and finding out who my teacher was going to be made things so exciting. I loved going to shop for new supplies and of course clothes and shoes too. We made a day of it, usually with my grandmother and went to numerous stores to make sure we had just what we needed and usually some things we wanted.
Things are different these days. We homeschool our boys and still make it a point to make school supply shopping something that is memorable and fun. Each year they both get new things included the much needed and desired Crayola crayons and markers. This year we were able to try some new products from the Take Note! line which I have to say has blown away every expectation that I had for them.
Teaching the boys everything from the alphabet, numbers and any other subject we can add in for the first years has been so much fun. Jack will enter first grade this year and Willie is starting to pick up crayons and color using his first Crayola products like a champ.
I am finding that the Take Note! products are bright, vivid and long lasting even with the hardest workers. I love the dry erase markers because we incorporate dry erase on a daily basis and these are some of the best we have tried. I find that when buying school supplies it is best to not go with the off brand names and stick with what I know; Crayola.
Jack loves the Take Note! Fine Point markers. We have been working on “seek and find” type work sheets this summer and also working on some math sheets and letters. I feel that just because we are on summer break the skills and learning doesn’t have to stop and work sheets only take a few minutes. We also subscribe to Highlights magazine which is something to look forward to and always full of fun activities.
This year I am wanting to keep more records of our schooling and record more school memories. I want the boys to look back one day and see how much fun we had and how they improved in their learning. The Take Note! Gel Pens are great for writing on notebook paper and I love how smooth they are. They are again bright, so many colors to choose from and even give me the ability to coordinate colors for certain things.
Another perk is the erasable highlighters by Take Note! as well. I’ve never seen a highlighter I could erase and this is perfect for the lesson planning portion of our schooling. I am able to highlight parts that are needed and areas that we need to go back and work on a little more. This is also perfect for beginning color by number where the student doesn’t have the ability to read the words but knows the colors.
We have fallen in love with the Take Note! Dry Erase Markers which come in different tips for different types of writing/drawing. The permanent markers have made great tools for our homeschooling as well because we can take our art adventures to another level. This year we are planning a lot of crafty things especially since Willie is older and can participate more than ever!
Here is some dry-erase artwork from Jack:
The dry-erase markers have ink level indicating areas, too!
We are really looking forward to sharing a lot of our school year here with our readers and hope that you guys hop aboard and enjoy the ride!
