What We Thought
My kids love to create art. They also love story time even at almost 13 and almost 9. When I got to work with Manfred Lutz on this project I knew that it would be an immediate hit. The boys worked together to create the artwork and while it was so minimalist, it was created into a one of a kind book that showcased their art skills on the front and a beautiful story inside.
The story summed up our youngest’s love of the outdoors and the ability for John to have an adventure but also learn a tremendous life lesson. I love a book that has some moral compass about it and this was perfect.
This book arrived in a timely manner, was awesome from the moment we opened it and has been a household favorite even though the Christmas season is well past. We will read this even on the warmest of summer days simply because it has become our youngest son’s favorite book ever because he “made the art” and also because he really has come to love the character John.
My personal favorite part of the book is the bio on the back that includes fun facts about our son and he thinks it really has made him a famous illustrator, which I love. This has sparked a creative part of our son that had kinda died out for a bit and for that I am thankful.
