The inspiring true story of 12-year-old Donn Fendler who, separated from his family by a fast-moving storm, must fight to stay alive while lost for nine-days in the remote wilderness of northern Maine. Donn’s disappearance captures national headlines and sparks a massive search effort attracting hundreds of volunteers, including his own father who fears he may never see his son again.

What We Thought

First things first I love movies based on true stories and movies based on books. This one covers both. I was captivated from the first moments of the film because I knew that this was based on real events and around something that we love doing as a family which is taking wilderness hikes. I can’t imagine ever being separated from my children on one of them though.

Lost on a Mountain in Maine is a must-see movie and you can buy tickets today to see Lost on a Mountain in Maine in theaters starting November 1st!

When faced with fear Donn prayed which I always tell my own children to do. After a pretty rough relationship with his own father Donn reached out to God for comfort and strength while he was lost in the heavily wooded area.

Even as an adult I can’t imagine being out there one night let alone 9 days. Donn showed strength, courage and faith through every obstacle.

We highly recommend seeing this movie if nothing else than as a reminder that faith can and will carry us through some of the worst times of our lives. This movie moved from start to finish and I found no boring moments where my mind wandered like with some films.
