What We Thought

I love doing art projects with our boys and while they are young we take our time and enjoy these moments because I know they won’t be little like this forever.

These great stepping stones in the heart shape are perfect Valentine’s gifts for grandparents, but I took a different spin on them. I wanted a keepsake from my boys. I wanted to remember how they chose to paint at the ages of 5 1/2 and nearly 2. I wanted them to see these when they are older and hopefully remember the blustery winter day that we say down to create these stones.

This little hand was busy creating and quickly got the hang of dipping his brush into the paints and adding color to his stepping stone.

With the help of an old towel to catch the extra paint and a little help from Mommy this is Willie’s artwork. I absolutely love it!

Jack made some too:

Jack wanted a “camouflage” pattern on his stepping stone. He had a blast and really enjoyed painting, too.

After painting I allowed these to dry overnight which may have been a bit of overkill, but we had no power the next day. Yes, on the coldest day of the year so far we were in the dark.

When I did bake them I found that the colors really set and I can’t wait to add these to our garden or just display them in our home. I love that these are keepsakes but can be used outside as well.

I did add the year and their names to the back. I want to remember who painted which one and expand on this idea for years to come.

MindWare offers such a variety of products to keep the creativity flowing in a day that technology seems to be taking over. I love that we had an awesome time creating together and that these heart shaped stepping stones will be a part of our lives for many years to come.
