Mix My Own Custom Muesli & Granola Product Review
Muesli or granola is a wholesome mixture of oats, other whole grains, nuts, seeds, and a variety of dried fruit. Muesli is raw and unprocessed while granola is typically toasted with honey and oil, resulting in a crisp texture and sweet glaze not found in muesli. Both are great sources of whole grains, fibers, fatty acids, protein, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
At MixMyOwn.com, you get the unique opportunity to create your very own healthy breakfast cereal mix using our premium ingredients. You can choose a muesli or granola base and then add your choice of cereals, dried fruits, nuts and seeds, and extras.
With MixMyOwn.com, you have 100% control over your health. You get simple, clean food. No unnecessary calories, no fillers, no extras, and nothing to get in the way of your day.
We received product free for the purpose of this review, regardless our opinions are true and our own.
What we received:
Two custom mixed bags of muesli/granola. The heart and personal note on the back of the bag is a sweet touch. Also on the back of the bag is a convenient bar code, simply scan it with your smartphone and easily re-order your mix! Very cool.
I really like the idea of this company and what they offer. It is a pretty neat thing to be able to make your own mix right online. There are TONS of ingredients to choose from. You simply start with a “base” ingredient, like oats and add to it one step at a time. They offer nuts, seeds, fruits and more. So much fun.
Here is a look at how to Mix Your Own (click to enlarge image):
1. Start with a Base Ingredient by scrolling through then click your choice. The prices and additional information are listed with the item
2. Move to the next option (tabs are up top)
3. Choose from a variety of nuts & seeds (check out what is in the “extras” category!!)
4. You can also change the size of the bag you are building on the right, a huge plus (and sure sign they put a lot of thought into this) is that you can see the cost change with every ingredient added or subtracted.
Another great feature is the icons that describe the ingredient such as Organic, Gluten Free, Non GMO and such. See the picture above.

What we thought:
The order process– So fun and easy! Super fast shipping. Nice keep fresh bags.
The selection- Excellent. I was impressed and I really like that they have some unique ingredients like bee pollen, chia seeds, Goji berries and Organic Cacao Nibs. I usually mix my own from a bulk section of my grocery store, but their selection is not as good. The grocery only carries the typical oats, almonds, dried cranberries and flax seeds.
A slight negative- The ratio of each item seemed ok, I only wish there was a bit more of the specialty items. One of the ingredients I wasn’t even sure was in there. I just found myself looking for more, but who wouldn’t want more cacao nibs! I believe the items are portioned out by weight so that could have something to do with it.
Regardless, I have to kind of gush over this company. I try to stay away from the typical “oh I loved it” type of comments in a review… but the truth is… I loved everything about this.
- The initial interaction with the owner, she was pleasant and professional.
- The process of ordering
- The email communication regarding order status
- The quick shipping ( came within 3 days!)
- The WHOLE idea behind MixMyOwn. Super big high five.
