My Love of Photography

My Love of Photography

Having kids changed the way that I take photos. I see everything as a great photo opportunity. Thousands of images over the last nearly 5 years and thousands more to come.

I love looking at other photographers work such as Summit Shah give me inspiration to be a better photographer granted I am “just a mom with a camera” but these images make me so happy and know that there is a whole world out there waiting to be photographed.

Spending many hours every month looking on sites like Pinterest for photo ideas, ways to make my pictures better and tips/tricks I have come a very long way in the short time that I have had something better than a point and shoot camera.

Everywhere that the road takes our family I constantly have my cell phone out snapping pictures or have my camera out. I have even been asked on social media why I take so many pictures; the answer is that I simply want to remember everything. There is a history in my family is Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia and often I think that one day these photos may be what I have left as a form of memory.

Also allowing our boys to see the things we have done while they are young makes my heart happy. We love to take them on adventures and often see some great sights because of them. Having photo albums full of our adventures is something that I grew up with and want to continue with our boys as well.

Do you love taking photos? This year I am part of a Project 52 which is 1 picture a week for a the entire year. I have been able to keep up every single week with the topics and have been able to also keep up with other members in the group on Facebook. It has been an amazing experience to follow and I suggest that if you ever have the opportunity to take part in one, please do!

Getting into photography has been a great hobby, a way to keep memories alive and a way to share our adventures with family and friends who do not live nearby. All of these things keep my heart happy and while to some it may be over sharing, to me it is just perfect!

Share your favorite photography tips in the comments. I would love to hear from more people who enjoy the same things that I do. Feel free also to share your love of photography any time on our social media. See something interesting? Share it!!
