My Nutrisystem Weightloss Journey Week 2 #NSNation- Getting through the Holidays!
So,  my Nutrisystem Success program Week 2 is already completed. That went by so fast !  I was so scared for this week because of the holidays, but I have to admit I think I did quite well.  Especially for me, who loves to dive right into our traditional holiday dishes and desserts!  Being Greek and from a family of foodies, my thought is that good food is what completes the holidays.
I kind of got off easy because this year we stayed home and celebrated with just the immediate family, so the amount of food I made was a lot less. Â We celebrated Christmas with my parents the week prior to my starting Nutrisystem and that was when we had all the goodies. My Christmas Day menu for my husband and the girls was simple, baked ham, mashed potato, green beans and cranberry sauce. I was confident I would make it through fine , because for 1. I can do without mashed potato, Â 2. I knew I could portion my ham correctly. I had made myself a side of spinach so that my vegetable potions were more than the rest.
Christmas Eve…oh boy. Â That night was the hardest for me. Â Here is the family’s requested menu …. Â Hot Wings, Jalapeno Poppers, Stuffed Mushrooms, my famous Homemade Potato Skins with Ranch and Fried Shrimp. Â Â Sigh! Â How in the world do I eat a Nutrisystem Dinner meal with this spread out all over the table?
Here is how I got by – Â First I made sure to drink extra water and have a Nutrisystem Protein Shake. Â Then I had 2 servings of vegetables with my Nutrisystem Lunch. Â By time those appetizers hit the table I was not even in the mood to eat. Â When everyone grabbed their plates, so did I. Â I took one of each thing, Â cut it in half and gave the other half to hubby (except the hot wing!) Â When I was finished eating I was satisfied, full and felt like I was able to eat the same as everyone else. Â I was not deprived.
A lot of times the reason a “diet” fails for someone is because they feel limited- no sweets, no carbs, no fat, and so on.  With Nutrisystem that is not the case. You can have chocolate cake, brownies, ice cream, burritos , cereal and a lot of things you would skip on a “diet”.  What Nutrisystem has taught me in just  2 weeks is what helped me get through the holidays without deviating from the plan even though I ate some of my own food.
I have been making sure to have vegetables with all of my Nutrisystem meals except for breakfast. This is easy for me because there really isn’t a veggie I don’t like. Â Below is a picture of the BBQ Beef with Rice & Beans , Â I sauteed carrots in a little olive oil first and then , instead of heating my Dinner meal in the microwave I just put it in the pan, added a little garlic powder and cayenne pepper! Delicious! Look at how much food is in that pan ! Â This was easily 2 servings.

Good job on staying focused! I have such a hard time maintaining my weight during the holidays. It’s so hard to say no to sweets and other treats. It’s nice to find a diet where you can actually indulge in these things a little bit and not have to completely cut them off!

That’s is exactly what I need to Jessica ! I am loving this ! Thanks 😀

Great job on staying focused! This year we didn’t cook a whole bunch for the holidays, so it was easier for me to control how much I ate. i have been thinking about doing the NutriSystem “diet” but have heard so many conflicting things about the meals, but you have given me a great report and shown me that I can add healthy things to the meals to make them more to my taste! Thank you 🙂

You are VERY welcome Melissa ! I too heard conflicting stories about the meals from NS, however… I have not had anything that I do not like unless it was something I did not like to begin with, like the Omelets for example. I am not a big fan of egg. I know someone who LOVES the omelets. 🙂

Great job on your week 2. I’ve always said its all about moderation! 🙂 btw that BBQ Beef with Beans looks mighty tasty especially because of the carrots!
