Natalie’s Orchid Island Squeezed Fresh Juices
Review Plus Recipes
Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Company began in a building in Vero across from the packinghouse, with Marygrace and her brother John Martinelli as its only full-time employees. From marketing her fresh-squeezed juice to the Miami fruit market in the middle of the night to borrowing a refrigerated truck to deliver the first order of fruit juice Thanksgiving week in 1990, Marygrace was unwavering in her plan to put her fresh-squeezed juice on everyone’s table. The story behind Natalie’s is pretty interesting, I really suggest reading it and also the letter from the CEO as well as about their certifications. Natalie’s juices are USDA, FDA and Kosher certified among others.
What we received
We received a wonderful package assortment of Natalie’s juice to try and share our thoughts with you. Natalie’s produced squeezed fresh, all natural juices including orange, orange pineapple, mango orange, lemonade and other great kinds.
What we thought
We were lucky to sample each one and right away noticed what makes their juice stand out. There is no mistaking the taste of squeezed fresh juice. Like biting right into the actual citrus fruit. Right away I looked at the ingredients. I figure if you are going to claim all natural, fresh squeezed well them let’s see …… the ingredient list for the orange juice: Florida Oranges. Awesome. The ingredients for the orange mango : Oranges and Mango Puree. Catch my drift? The only thing to keep in mind is that because these contain no preservatives (again, awesome) they will not have as long of a shelf life and need to be kept cold.
As for the actual taste, unbelievable. I expected overly tart and sour since there is nothing added. Nope. Just real citrus flavor with a sweetness from the fruit that will surprise you. The only one I thought was a bit tart was the Honey Tangerine. I assume the grapefruit was tart, I did not try that because I don’t care for grapefruit. My dad does and he loved it, said it reminded him of when he was a kid and his mother would half one and sprinkle a little sugar on it.
The bottom line on flavor… as I mentioned above, these taste EXACTLY like you just bit into the fruit itself. They must grow some pretty perfectly ripe and sweet fruits to maintain the sweetness without added sugar. I wish it was easier for me to find these in my area, because I would not buy another brand again.
They also bottle 100% Lemon and 100% Lime juices, which I used to create a few treats and share the recipes with you.
Homemade Lemonade and Mini “Key” Lime Pies , both recipes are quick and easy, try them out and let me know how you liked it! You can find where to buy Natalie’s here Get Natalie’s (State and store listing)
