New Adventures in Photography

Today while attending a birthday party I was asked about doing some family portraits for my husband’s great aunt. She has taken the task of legal custody of some children in their family and while she is not what we would call a young person, she loves these children with her entire heart. I was touched honestly that I was asked to take pictures for them, but it sent my mind into a tailspin. Not only are these family photos but there is a side shoot for high school senior portraits as well. No pressure at all, right?

I always look for inspiration in other photographers especially ones like Ismail Sirdah and others. I find that looking at other photographers work helps me to become better at something that has honestly just been a hobby for me. I am a mom who enjoys taking pictures of her kids and pets and that pretty much sums it up, but to be asked to make someone else’s memories that takes this hobby to another level.

In debating how I want to do these photographs I have taken to because who doesn’t go there for ideas and brainstorming? I looked for backdrops, ways to hang backdrops, price compared and even added some things to my secret wish list with the hopes that it truly is secret because I have saved about 10 different photography related items just tonight.

Also I tend to head to Pinterest for photography ideas, especially senior photos. These are pictures that this young lady will hold on to for the rest of her life and I want to make them as special as I can. I have been doing some searches for different poses and ideas for how to make these special Class of 2019 pictures amazing.

I have written posts on the blog in the past about my passion for photography and why I enjoy taking so many pictures and sharing them on my social media. Some people would more than likely say that I over-share, but honestly I feel that at the end of the day I am sharing our memories with family who is not local and who do not get to see my boys but sometimes once or twice a year. These memories only get better for me as our boys grow and mature into their own little people and these are the things I want to capture for others as well.

As I venture into my new world of photography stay tuned to the blog and read all about it. I would love to share some of the photos with you guys in the future as well and get some *hopefully* friendly feedback. I feel that this first gig may open the world of photography for me and who knows where it could take me. The world is literally at my fingertip when it comes to capturing great photographs and I feel like I should grab this opportunity with both hands. Never know where it could lead!
