New Product From Thundershirt – Thunderleash Product Review

Note* I am using photos from the Thunderleash website because the leash is too big for our dog, she is still growing so we are hanging on to it.  Dogs are like children, they can outgrow things so fast !

What Is Thunderleash?

The Thunderleash is the newest product from Thundershirt, makers of the anti-anxiety coat that I know you have seen or heard of.  They work amazing and a great for any dog who may be hyper active, stressed or have high anxiety, especially during car rides.  You can read my full review of the Thundershirt here Thundershirt Product Review.

The design for the No Pull Thunderleash is basically a harness and leash in one. It simply wraps around the body and attaches to your dog’s collar (as seen above), this ensures your dog is comfortable and pain free.  The leash is great for dogs who pull a lot when walked as it applies minimal, but enough pressure against the body.  The Thunderleash  can also be used as a traditional leash.

Key features :

  • heavy duty hardware for even the biggest dogs
  • thick, wide, high quality leash body with large handle
  • easy on design – no harness “obstacle” course to deal with
  • converts from harness style to regular leash
  • unisex design (black & blue with the Thundershirt logo)
  • easy to size

What We Thought:

We were able to test this product enough to know that once our dog grows into it fully, it will be a life saver.  She is very hyper and pulls a lot when being walked.  She is never tied up at our home so being a leash is not her favorite thing.  We do have a harness that is such a huge pain, the straps get all twisted and no matter how many times I used it I always have to stop and think about which way it goes.  She has really long legs and a slim body, so putting her legs into it in the front is always a challenge.

The Thunderleash design makes sense and works.  The only thing I wish was a little different is the design of how the leash attaches to the hardware to form the leash. As you can see int he picture, once the leash wraps around the body you slip it into the harness slot.  This worked fine when our dog was walking directly in front of us,  but she is all over the place usually.  So we did have issues with this slipping out every time tension slacked.  It also could be because she is still a little small for the size we have.jj
I was very impressed with the way the leash is made.   The hardware is so heavy duty and the leash itself is beautiful.  I love how wide they made it,  it allows the leash to lay nice and flat against the body.  It is also a great length.
