No Nonsense Guide To Having Healthy and Happy Kids
As parents, we are responsible for overseeing the health and well being of our children. The things they do, they things they eat, and the things they see and hear. They can all have an impact, and sometimes it can be quite surprising just how much of a difference they do make. When our children are healthy and happy they will thrive, not just survive. So here are some of the steps that we can take to make sure that our children are the happiest and healthiest that they can be.
Ensure They Get Plenty of Sleep
We all know how much a lack of sleep affects how we go about our daily lives. So for children, that need lots of energy for their learning and growing, it is so vital. Otherwise, they can underperform in school and get irritable. A lack of sleep can also lead to being more overweight. So it makes sense all round, right?
A Varied Diet
Having a diet that is healthy but varied is really key to getting out kids into good habits. What they learn as children will be what they carry on doing as they get older. So if you just let them eat whatever they want, whenever they want, then it isn’t likely to be healthy options. So establish some discipline when it comes to food, and also think about what you have in the house. We all know some children that might be fussy eaters, so it could be a good idea to give our children a supplement, like something from the Viralex range, so that they are getting an extra boost. It can be hard to get all the vitamins and minerals they need otherwise.
Educate About Food and Hydration
As well as providing a healthy and varied diet, it is good to talk to our children about why we eat certain things. They need to know why it is important to eat certain things and reduce how much we eat of other things. You could talk about energy levels and how eating too much sugar makes the energy levels even lower than they were in the first place. Talk about foods that can help them to grow tall or strong or even just to help their hair be shinier. This is often forgotten with children, but it is important information that they will use all of their life.
We also believe in teaching kids how to cook their own healthy meals and snacks. Our boys have been in the kitchen since birth even sitting in a high chair watching us cook and it has developed a pure love of knowing the ingredients in their meals and wanting to know more and more each day.
Make Being Active Fun
If children are given the choice between watching YouTube or going for a bike ride, then the chances are that they will choose the former rather than the latter. Why? Because they see that as being more fun. So look for things to do with your children that are active but that they do enjoy. It will mean they are more likely to stick to it and will actually look forward to doing it, which is important when it comes to establishing healthy life goals with our children.
What other things do you do to encourage your children to take care of themselves and be healthy?
