Some of you may already know, but for those who do not, I live in Maine. Kind of, mid-western Maine, a very mountainous area right at the lake. My point? Our weather. Sometimes I feel as though we live in an type of east coast Alaska. Let me tell you, it has been snowing for days, 5 days in a row to be exact. The start of the storm dropped only about 10 inches, but since then the flurries have just not subsided. I am grateful that it is not really adding up to much, but enough is enough already is what I am saying. I get that winter means snow and for the most part it does not bother me, until it leads into March. Then I am over it.
With all this snow and cold weather comes the craving for warm, hearty comfort food meals. With that also comes a lot of calories, fat and carbs. Also, portion control is hard for me with the comfort foods, I guess this winter weather is extra hard on me so I need additional healing ha ha!
The Nutrisystem menu has been a life savor for my comfort food cravings! The breakfast has waffles, pancakes, even pancake mix; lunch has items like mac n cheese, fettuccine alfredo, bean & ham soup , even loaded baked potato!
The dinners include entrees like cheesy Risotto (seen below) , Hearty Beef Stew, Chili With Beans (they also have a Vegetarian chili) , Stuffed Shells, Rotini with Meatballs, Spaghetti, all kinds of different comfort foods! You are sure to be satisfied and will not feel like you are missing out on anything! I have so many favorites, but this new Risotto is definitely one of them. It is brown rice in a very cheesy sauce with red peppers. The sauce has a very sharp cheddar kind of flavor. I never thought I would be able to eat such a small (which is actually normal size) portion and not be hungry after. The balance of high fiber and protein in the Nutrisystem meals and snacks help to fill you and keep you feeling fuller for longer, thus reducing your caloric intake very easily. This of course, producing weight loss. I have gotten to the point now where I can not even eat any more than portions these size or I am over stuffed and feel horrible, making it very easy to stop at the first sign of being full.
I am looking forward to spring and summer! We will be expanding our garden this year and I can not wait for fresh fruits and veggies to add to the Nutrisystem meals. This time of year up in Maine it is so hard to find good quality fresh produce. If we do find it, oh my goodness it is SO expensive.
This week was a huge week for me ! I have been sticking to the Nutrisystem plan and working out a lot and lost so much weight this week!
I HIT MY GOAL OF 20LBS LOST BY WEEK 16, WAY EARLY!!!
