Being brand new to the world of air fryers I thought go big or go home. We have experimented with everything from homemade chicken breast sandwiches to frozen foods cooked healthier. I have to say that the NuWave Brio 6-qt Air Fryer is a great starting place because it is so easy to use. I love that the easy-touch buttons make this simple and there is a great booklet to explain the settings and even recipes that we have saved to try later.
About the NuWave Brio 6-qt Air Fryer:
The NuWave Brio Digital Air Fryer boasts advanced features you won’t find in just any air fryer.
The Brio’s digital touch screen offers precise temperature control with just the press of a button, allowing you to adjust the frying temperature in just 5° increments.
The Brio includes a unique Pre-Heat function, which ensures that it reaches the desired temperature before you begin cooking your food, ensuring that everything from fries to wings come out perfectly crispy every time.
The Brio even boasts advanced safety features which prevents the unit from operating unless the fry basket is securely in place.
Here is a photo of the actual unit. It is heavy duty but not insanely heavy. I was able to easily set it up from box to counter in minutes which is a huge deal to me. It was packaged well and didn’t leave a lot of trash behind.
My first experience with the air fryer wasn’t the best because I was over-thinking the recipe and picked something pretty complicated for a first time user. I ended up having to take the machine apart and wash it. We won’t talk about the outcome. It wasn’t picture pretty but tasted delicious.
Washing was easy and I was back on track pretty fast.
These burgers although pre-made tasted great by just adding some pepper and American cheese. We had lunch in 6 minutes. This is epic because afternoons in this house are usually insane. Blogging, homeschooling, phone calls and other commitments usually are booming by lunch time and I have to be able to feed my boys something nutritious and edible. We really enjoyed these burgers and the fact that they were not greasy because the grease can flow to the bottom of the pan.
Both boys ate these burgers up and the oldest asked for them the very next day so I knew they were a hit.
I decided to get a little more brave with my next meal. I got out some top round steak from a steer that we had processed. This meat had to be cut in to 3 pieces. Our boys shared one of them.
I was anxious the entire time cooking this because we all know that steak isn’t a cheap meal and I wanted it to taste great after my husband had been working all day.
12 minutes and we had diner. Yes the sides are store-bought when I would typically make them myself but I did saute the mushrooms and onions. The meal was AMAZING! The kids ate it right up and honestly we did, too. My husband a self-professed grill master and he ate this and bragged about it which was great to hear. I felt really accomplished.
One last thing before I go….. Y’all look at these fries!! I took some leftover red potatoes and soaked them for about an hour in cold water after hand slicing them. I used a really sharp knife and tried to be consistent when slicing them.
After soaking to get the starch out I tossed them in some cooking oil. All I had was vegetable, but I know olive oil would be amazing!
I then tossed them into the air fryer at 400 degrees for 15 minutes tossing and making sure they didn’t stick a few times.
At the end of them cooking I added some sea salt and oh my goodness! There were absolutely no words.
I wasn’t sold on having an air fryer at first, but I am not only sold now but will never be without one. NuWave has blown us away and for what we got I would absolute purchase this. Currently there is an easy pay option on the site, too. 3 payments of $33.33!
I am going back to the drawing board now to see what else I can do with this amazing machine! Watch out world I have Christmas Eve, New Years and the Superbowl to get ready for!
