The roots of O’Keeffe’s Company go back more than 20 years to an arid region on the California-Oregon border known as the Klamath Basin. Bill O’Keeffe was a rancher and diagnosed diabetic who loved his rigorous, physical work. The tough lifestyle, however, took its toll on his hands and feet. His daughter, Tara, seeing the pain caused by his chronically dry skin, was driven to find product that relieved her father’s severely dry, cracked skin.

Applying her skills as a pharmacist, Tara and her father spent years creating and testing various formulations mixed in her kitchen, until, many years later, she developed the basic formula for what has become O’Keeffe’s Working Hands and, eventually, O’Keeffe’s for Healthy Feet.

What We Thought

Having a husband who is outdoors working in all seasons including this especially brutal winter in the plumbing industry his hands get rough. Working with his hands in water under all weather conditions makes them especially hard to treat. This winter he has been dealing with busted water lines due to extreme freezing. This means often having his hands submerged in icy conditions.

When we were offered the chance to review O’Keeffe’s Hard Working Skincare and I knew from hearing that my own Dad who is in the construction industry as well has been using these products for years because of dry skin that they had to be good. Dad is old school as can be and prefers to buy products that he knows and trusts.

Patrick tried the Working Hands first and he was blown away. After the first time using it he felt a difference in his dry hands. I noticed a difference as well when we went out on a date night and his hands were a lot less dry than they had been.

We also got a chance to try out the lip repair which we both used. I loved the texture and the fact that not only did my lips feel more healthy but they were so soft after using this product. Patrick really liked the cooling relief variety while I used the lip balm.

My personal favorite product out of the entire line is the Skin Repair. I have extremely dry feet, like to the point that they itch and often hurt. I have done so much research on products, spent a small fortune in lotions, creams and other ointments to just try to soothe my feet. Nothing worked at all and I found they were just getting more and more dry. This winter they went into overdrive. I was in misery some days from them hurting. The O’Keefe’s Skin Repair has helped them when other products left me in the dust. My feet are healing and already feel better. I want to make sure to keep a stock of Skin Repair here at all times. I just use it after my shower and find that it lasts throughout the day with no issues at all.
