Our Thoughts on Lawyers of Distinction

I love any system that is peer nominated such as Lawyers of Distinction where a person isn’t just adding themselves into a program but are moreless picked by their peers based on their knowledge and skills. Granted there is an application process where people can sign up for themselves, but they are looked at by a committee in a selection process.

Now that you know how Lawyers of Distinction works you will more than likely ask what exactly is it? This website is a database that includes the best of the best lawyers in all of the land! I was able to do a search by our state which happens to be Virginia and look at profiles of some well known and other not quite as well known (I wouldn’t have known about them had I not searched) attorneys. This process can be done by a statewide search, but also you can narrow it down to the type of legal support that you need. This helps a person like me to not only learn more about each lawyer but also put a face to the name and educate myself on the various types of legal support that each lawyer offers, but also find out if they have a specialty.

Lawyers of Distinction helps many lawyers to grow their practices because they are being seen on a much broader spectrum than just the local yellow pages or social media sites. I love that this database is so vast from family law to estate planning and so much more.

My husband and I have been talking a lot lately as we see our parents and my grandmother age faster and faster that we need to start forging the way to planning our own estate and getting our affairs in order. This is something quite personal to us and we do not want to just put these things in just anyone’s hands. I want to make sure that when we choose an attorney to help us with the planning process that it is done with dignity and grace, but also by someone that we can relate to. I would want someone near our own age who can understand how important it is to have a life plan, but also not be pushy with what we want and need. I feel that the searchable database on Lawyers of Distinction would help with that greatly!

Have you ever used a searchable database like Lawyers of Distinction? Let us know in the comments how you liked it and what you thought. How did the process of getting to know someone before hiring them work for you?
