I think most of you have probably heard of POM Wonderful and maybe even seen the commercials.  I have, but had never actually tried POM until I was approached about a review.  I love pomegranates, but I am not a huge fan of juice so I was a little skeptical.

About POM Wonderful

POM Wonderful is 100% pomegranate juice. There are absolutely no added preservatives, colors or sugars. The juice is flash pasteurized which will help to preserve the flavor and nutrients in the juice. POM is also gluten free and certified kosher. Pomegranates are packed full of antioxidants and potassium and can be very beneficial to your health.  One thing to note is that the POM is not a low calorie drink. Pomegranates have a high natural sugar content which is carried over into the juice.  An 8oz bottle contains 300 calories ( 2 – 150 calorie servings).

What we thought

So, I briefly mentioned above that I am not a huge fan of juice and here is why… A lot of times it is just too sweet and I know this may sound weird, but it will give me heart burn.  Usually if I have juice, it is cranberry and I load up a glass full of ice and I let it really chill and get kind of watered down. I drink about a half gallon of water a day and not usually anything else, so I like to change it up once in a while.  This POM Wonderful is a great way to do that.  I made an 8oz bottle last a few days.  I love the taste, it actually reminds me a lot of cranberry juice.

My husband likes sports type drinks and milk. He usually will not venture off too far from those. I can not get him to drink a glass of water for anything.  So I am always looking for different things he can drink.  He did not think he would like this POM , but he loved it!  He was too funny,  I think it made him feel like he was being proactive about his health because all of a sudden, each morning he would wake up and grab a bottle and a multivitamin.  He would say ” I need to have this before my coffee,  it is good for me right?”   I had to laugh.

The flavor is a nice balance of sweet and tart.  The 8oz. bottles are so cute, they are perfect for work, school lunches, picnics, grab and go.  Just be aware that the POM must be kept cold or refrigerated, there are no preservatives.
