I have been testing out sauces from Fischer & Wieser for the last few weeks and I have got to say, these pie fillings are my favorite. You can find the Fischer & Wieser pie fillings and more at www.jelly.com.
There are available in Fredericksburg Golden Peach, Old Fashioned Cherry and Apple Brandy and Cherry. I was a little skeptical at first about the Apple Brandy, but I love the flavor! It has more of a fancy, luxurious apple pie taste than a traditional all-american apple pie.
I used my handy My Lil Pie Maker and was able to make just enough pie for our small family of 4 on Thanksgiving. The My Lil Pie Maker is perfect for controlling portions and helping to make sure you do not over bake. I am usually afraid to have too much leftover.
Both Pie Fillings are packed full of big chunky pieces of fruit and taste fresh like you just made it yourself. Though I liked the apple, the cherry was my favorite. It has just the right amount of tart and sweet!
The best part is that all you have to do is scoop the filling into your crust and bake! In 40 minutes (for a regular size pie) you have an amazing Semi-Homemade, Homemade tasting pie!
We added a regular lattice crust to the top of the cherry and I made a crumble topping for the apple. Please excuse my messy looking lattice crust…. I was up super early and had prepared the turkey, all the vegetables, whoopie pies, cookies and more before 10am.
The jars of pie filling are 24oz and will make a 9in pie. If you are feeling creative then think outside the pie shell and try the fillings on ice cream , waffles, pound cake, or even bread pudding! Their website has a ton of RECIPES! Also, feel free to read my other reviews & recipes using the Fischer & Wieser products HERE
The next thing I am going to try is the Strawberry Rhubarb Preserves!!!! YUMMM
