Story Land Children’s Theme Park Travel Review
We recently took a trip to Glen, New Hampshire to visit Story Land, a children’s theme park based on story book characters. Including those from fairy tales such as The Three Little Pigs, Heidi, The Old Woman In The Shoe, Mother Goose, Cinderella (of course) and more. This is a place that I visited as a child and my oldest daughter, now almost 17, went when she was around 2. Pictured above.
The Park
The park is not your typical theme park placed on a flat concrete lot, it provides a nice atmosphere of trees, hills, water and mountain views. This is one of my favorite things about the design of the park. I have been to other theme parks where you basically just walk around in a circle hitting ride after ride and usually out in the bright, hot sun. The other thing I really like is that they take the fairy tale theme all the way. The buildings are cottage style painted in fun colors and they offer shows that include “Tea Time With Cinderella”. There are little houses and displays set up to look like they are straight out of the books, a good one to mention here is the display set up of “Heidi’s” bedroom. It is so detailed.
We arrived at the park shortly after it opened , around 9am and stayed until about 5pm. We went pretty fast throughout the day because I knew I was writing a review so I wanted to see and experience as much as possible. Unfortunately, we still did not see everything. If you are camping or lodging in the area, I highly recommend taking advantage of their offer where if you enter the park after 3pm you in the next day FREE. There is so much to see and do.
The Rides & Attractions
I am so impressed with the variety of rides here. They managed to have rides that adults and older children would enjoy while still be safe for the little ones. There are traditional rides such as the roller coaster, tea cups, turtles (like a tilt-a-whirl) , carousel and flying fish. Then there are your “kiddie” rides and specialty rides such as the swan boats and pumpkin coach ride up to Cinderella’s Castle. We did not go on a weekend day, but it was still very busy. I was kind of nervous when I saw the parking lot and found myself driving in to the back to find a space. It was not bad at all, once we were in there the park is so big that everyone was spread out. The lines for the rides moved very quickly. The only one I waited more than a few minutes at was the roller coaster. It was no big deal though, they have an observation deck you can watch the ride from.
Something important to mention are the water rides/attractions. I suggest going there prepared to get wet, wear your bathing suit under clothes or clothing that will dry fast. There are a few really fun water rides, plus there is a small water play area in the middle of the park. Mist tents are placed all over the place for getting cooled off quickly. I stopped at every single one of these to mist my face.

Food & Restrooms
Bathrooms and changing areas are very convenient, we never once got stuck looking for a bathroom or being far away from one. It seemed like every time I turned around there was one. Snacks, drinks and meals are also readily available. There are a few main “eat areas” and then the smaller snack shack type stands here and there all over. A HUGE PLUS and High Five to Story Land – THEY ALLOW YOU TO BRING IN OUTSIDE FOOD! You can bring in bags, I saw coolers all over the place. They even have storage rooms!
We did not bring anything because , well I was hard at work reviewing so I had to try their goodies ! Like chocolate covered crunchy bacon on a stick, yes please ! This was FANTASTIC, the lady at the gift shop said they sell out so fast. No doubt. My husband finally got to try deep friend oreos, I will not lie, I stayed right away from those. I felt the pricing was fair for this type of place, they have a souvenir cup that you can buy for $9.99 and refill all day long. It was worth it. The gift shop is full of fun stuff as you would expect. I found a great rack of clearance T’s and Sweatshirts so if you are looking to save a little or spend less, check that out!
Overall
We had so much fun. Period. I was not disappointed with anything. We even won 3 out of 3 games and went home with stuffed animals, that never happens ! I grew up in New Hampshire so I am kind of partial to this particular area of the White Mountain region, be sure to visit and give yourself plenty of time to explore !
Park pricing is actually a little less than what I have seen at comparable parks. Open Until Oct 14th.

This place is amazing and a fun place to visit and see the sites. I would love to take my family here. It is not that expensive and I think that it would be a good thing to spend the whole day there!
