About The Homeschool Awakening

Families across the nation are experiencing the homeschool awakening, taking ad vantage of the freedom and opportunities for self-discovery — with the world as their class room. Join award-winning actor, Kirk Cameron, as he dives into the adventures of dynamic

American families on a mission to put fun and faith back into learning. The Homeschool  Awakening explores the ins, outs, and honest answers to homeschooling’s most frequently  asked questions.

What We Thought

This movie spoke to me in a deep way. My parents were homeschool parents in a time that it was not really the “in” thing and I knew immediately when becoming a parent that I would be part of a homeschool household as well with our children. My husband and I had some very serious conversations about schooling and we settled on this route for so many reasons.

Kirk Cameron dives deep into so many things revolving around homeschooling but to me this spoke on levels way beyond the basics. We have a lot of the same values discussed in this movie and it was a great thing to see something with like-minded people.

This movie shows that not every homeschooling day is perfect but it can be 100% tailored to each family and while I know that this isn’t a decision for everyone this movie is something that anyone can watch and take a lot from including a lot of reasons for people’s choices in their child’s education. I feel that this is something even public and private school families can take a lot away from because there is a lot of speculation about how homeschooling works and the erroneous messages that are often portrayed by just the word homeschool.

I’ve been homeschooling my 4 kids since 2011. Two of them have graduated (one is in the military and one is in college). It’s been the best choice for our family.

I’m going to see the movie tonight. I’ve been homeschooling for the past three school years, and plan to continue for as long as it’s the best fit for our family. We love this lifestyle.

I’m seriously thinking of trying homeschooling, but I have 5 boys in ages 6 to 13. I’m feeling like homeschooling would give us a chance to teach my kids things they need for life beyond sports and academics. They are only young so long and it would be great to get time to teach them the importance of God in their everyday lives. But as I think it’s a great idea, the pressure of knowing that all they are learning is up to me..I get kind of overwhelmed.

Homeschooling is very appealing to my family and I think it’s a great idea. I am a stay at home mom and love the idea of giving my daughter and son an individualized education!

We’ve been homeschooling for 2 years. Although it works for our family because I am a stay at home mom, I’m still not 100% sure if it’s the right choice for us long term. I enjoyed school and often wonder if my children would too. I’m hoping this movie tugs at my heart and helps us make a decision for this fall. The biggest challenge is juggling all of the children while schooling them at different levels. My main question for other people and myself: has the world always been this corrupt? I went to public school, turned out fine, and dealt with all the changes our world was going through at that time.
God is good, always. It will all work out the way it’s meant to.

I feel the world is ever-changing but the political scope is very different than it once was. There seems to be more drugs, sexual content etc and of course with social media evolving things change with that as well. Just my personal opinion.

With everything going on nowadays, I think it is very beneficial to home school! We are looking into this definitely for my 2 youngest grandsons, and my 2 older ones are having difficulty as well in public schools so we are thinking about homeschool as an option for them.
