Waring Pro Brushed Stainless Steel Belgian Waffle Maker Review

We like to travel a lot and our search for lodging always includes whether or not the hotel provides a breakfast in the morning. This  almost always means that there is a professional Belgian waffle maker in the breakfast area.  I am serious when I say we look for this when choosing a hotel.  My family can eat, especially when it comes to these amazing waffles.   Our love for the Belgian waffle sent me on a search to find the perfect waffle maker for at home.

I started with Waring Pro because I know the name and have experienced the quality of their products in the past.  I ended with Waring.  There was no need to try another Belgian waffle maker.  This one is easy to use, has all the features of the restaurant/hotel ones and produces some pretty delicious waffles in only a few minutes!

Features :

  • Non Stick Coating
  • Folding Handle, easy for storage
  • Extra Deep 1 inch “waffle pockets”

  • Control Knob to adjust the level of browning (crunch)
  • Rotates 180° to ensure even cooking on the top and bottom
  • Product Dimensions (D x W x H): 16.5 x 9.25 x 7.75

Key Points:

Heats quickly and cooks the waffle in about 3- 4 minutes making it easy to feed a lot of people fast!

Removable tray under the maker catches any drips and can also double as a serving tray (not sure if it was intended that way, but we used it as such).

Directions state to spray with non stick cooking spray before each waffle.  I personally hate cooking sprays, I think they are full of chemicals.  What I do instead –  when the maker is cool, wipe the top and bottom irons with a paper towel that has been dipped in canola ( or your favorite)  oil .    This actually seasons the irons enough that you only need to do it once during that cooking session.

I love the “browning” control knob !   The directions recommend a setting of 4, which is what the waffles in the pictures were cooked on.  I like it at a 5 for a tad bit crunchier waffle.

The beeping can get a little mixed up or confused as my daughter and I like to joke about.  I am sure it is my fault,  I have yet to figure out if I am suppose to keep the lid open when preparing to start another waffle or close it.   Either way, sometimes the beep to alert you that it is finished cooking does not sound.  I just open and check the waffle once I see minimal steam coming from the unit.

Clean up is easy.  If you accidentally overfill and some leaks out around the edges,  leave it.  Wait until you are done cooking to clean it up,  for two reasons.  1. you may just make another mess 2. the outside gets hot and will actually cook the edges making it a ton easier to clean up.

The size of these waffles is very traditional of the Belgian waffle.  They are huge.  Plain and simple.   They are thick ,  big around and have extra deep waffle pockets to hold your yummy topping !

(Forgive the paper plate for the photo, if we did not use these I would find myself doing dishes 10 hours a day)
