Why I Love Being an Influencer
Being an influencer is something that I have always loved about blogging. Making money doing something I absolutely love while spending time with my family is just the best feeling ever. I want to share with you guys how we got into influencer marketing.
Many people do not realize what an influencer is so my first stop as always is Google–
Influencer marketing (also influence marketing) is a form of marketing in which focus is placed on influential people rather than the target market as a whole. It identifies the individuals that have influence over potential buyers, and orients marketing activities around these influencers.
Now that we know what an influencer is and what we do, I want to share how we work with companies to influence our readers and get people talking about new products.
Interacting with PR (public relations) companies like that of Nancy Behrman is a great way to become involved. Scouring the internet for companies to work with is so much fun, but even more fun is when the email comes back saying that you have been approved for a new campaign. I love working on campaigns with our sons especially since they are so easy to photograph and even take video of. Often working with a company just one time is a way to get your foot in the door and often leads to a very long lasting relationship.
I love that often we are the first people to try out new products and share our opinions with our family and friends. I really enjoy knowing that people come to us and ask questions about new and upcoming products knowing that often we have a little bit of an insider appeal. Although sometimes with certain campaigns we are sworn to secrecy and can’t talk about them.
Building relationships with people in marketing departments and PR reps is something that truly makes me happy. Some I have worked with for years and years and really enjoy letting them get to know us, but we also get to know them as well. Some I have laughed with by email while others have gotten in touch with me during very hard times in our life and I have been forced to share things that often are hurtful. Tis the business, but I have found that most PR professionals such as Nancy Behrman are just that; professional.
What networks for you work with when it comes to influence marketing? We belong to quite a few. Would anyone here be interested in a list of market research, PR or influencer groups? I would be willing to put one together with enough interest.
