Homestyle Sauces By Costantino’s Kitchen Product Review & Giveaway
I received the following products mentioned, free for the purpose of this product review. My opinions are honest and my own, I always blog about my own personal experience with the products for review.
What we received:
Diavolo Hot Sauce
Grandma Angie’s Tomato Basil Gourmet Pasta Sauce
What we thought
The Diavolo Hot Sauce is fantastic, I have never really heard of an “Italian” hot sauce! It has all of the traditional features of a hot sauce, such as the heat of course and the vinegar. In addition, there is a flavor of herbs and tomato similar to a pasta sauce. They really pair well together and make a great sauce for bread or to spice up an Italian dish.
We used the hot sauce on Focaccia Bread that I made with roasted onions and red peppers. It was amazing. You can purchase the Diavolo Hot Sauce for $5.99 on the Costantino website, linked below.
The Gourmet Pasta Sauce flavor is tomato basil, one of my favorites and is a nice thick, hearty sauce. You can smell that this is as close to homemade as you can get as soon as you open the jar. The main thing I noticed was that there is no tin taste because this is packaged in a glass jar. Even when I make my homemade sauce, I have to use canned tomato and can never really get rid of that “tinny” type flavor.
I made my homemade meatballs and served them immediately with the hot pasta sauce spooned over. This was one of the ways I tested the flavor, because usually I make my meatballs and let them simmer for hours in the sauce so that everything picks up the flavor of each other. It was not necessary with this sauce. The other thing I like about the sauce is that it is not sweet and not acidic. I am very picky about my sauce, I grew up with my mother adding some sugar to the sauce and saying that it “cuts the acid” , but I never liked it like that. I am a hot and spicy person, so guess what I did? YESSSS I added a touch of the Diavolo Hot Sauce to this pasta sauce.
