Remodeling Without a Truck? Get Truxx!

Remodeling Without a Truck? Get Truxx!

So as you all know we have been working hard to remodel our house and over the last few days have been extra thankful for the GMC in the driveway, but it led me to question what happens if you don’t have a truck to haul these materials? It would really be a huge budget change for a project to have delivery charged applied to already mounting costs of the materials you are buying. With a truck of our own we literally dropped over $500 this week on extra materials we found during the hiccups of our project.

I discovered there is a great service called Truxx also known as “your buddy with a truck” and I had a real light bulb moment. Downloading a simple app onto your phone can change the game of remodeling in a huge way. How does this work? The concept is pretty simple.

HOW DOES THIS WORK?

Technically…that is our secret sauce. So all you need to know is that you push a few buttons on our slick app and a truck comes to exactly where you need it and brings your stuff to where you want it to go.

But what does it cost? Obviously when we start projects we have a key budget in place to know about what we want to spend on the basics (minus the hiccups) We want to make sure that there is extra money just in case, but this is a simple concept to budget in especially if you are going to the hardware store and just need a truck for a little bit. These trucks are used for the half hour and if you load and unload the cost would be just $25 for 30 minutes… but the deal gets sweeter. We know a lot of people who have trouble lifting and while they are great at the actual work, they can’t do the heavy stuff. For $35 per half hour the driver will help you load and unload. (Keep in mind these are 25 mile radius trips and the minimum price is $39.) I will be honest and say I have lifted so many things in the last 48 hours that I would rather just pay someone to do this for me at this point HA!!

Another question I pondered was is this safe?

From the Truxx site: Our trusted drivers are your neighbors, your friends, great helpful people with awesome trucks, vans, and trailers. Each driver goes through a criminal and DMV background check. Our ratings and reviews systems ensures we only have the best drivers on the road hauling your stuff. Like anything in life, it is always best to play it safe and use your best judgment when using any service provider. Want to earn cash and be a driver, download our app and register as a driver!

We live in a very rural area and this led me to question if people here knew what Truxx was and if there would be anyone available should we need a truck (or in our case maybe 2 trucks). The Truxx Map was available to let me see that apparently I was the last to know about Truxx and that we have a lot of qualified drivers in our area that could help us out.

In the process of this remodel I have learned a lot and I am still learning. I learned that budgets are meant to be shattered because I found things I would rather have as opposed to others. I also learned that it isn’t a crime to ask for help from family and friends. I also learned that cast iron tubs are indeed heavy.

In the coming weeks we will be working on a series of posts to share our remodeling process and more fun tidbits that we have learned in the process. I am really excited for the progress that we have seen and look forward to partnering even more with Truxx in the coming weeks to bring content to our readers to show that in fact the average homeowners can make their remodel projects both fun and easy.
