A Year Of Good Health: 12 Tips For 12 Healthy Months
Getting healthy can take some time, though lots of people believe that it is entirely possible to completely overhaul your life in just one year. Does that sound like the kind of challenge you would be up for? Here are our top twelve tips – one for each month – that can help you do just that.
June
Now that the summer is finally here, you will probably be enjoying the long hot days outdoors. Just remember that it is always necessary to apply sunscreen no matter how dark your skin may be. Otherwise, your risk of skin cancer will be sky-high.
July
The summer is the perfect time to exercise outside. So, why not take your workout out of the gym and into the park? If there aren’t too many kids playing on the jungle gym, you could always utilize that in your workout. The soft paths in parks are also great surfaces for jogging on as they won’t be too hard on your shins and knees.
August
The temperatures normally rocket in late summer, so be sure to drink plenty of water each and every day. This will help keep your body hydrated, and it will also prevent your skin from drying out too much.
September
Lots of healthy veggies come into season in September, and some of these are considered superfoods! Take broccoli for example; now is the best time to eat it and enjoy all of its benefits. Some other great foods to eat this month are avocados, artichokes, and pineapple.
October
Trick or treat? You might be tempted to take the treat option this Halloween, but be careful not to overdo it! All of those candies will be packed full of sugar, which will be bad for your waistline and teeth.
November
Why not enjoy a relaxing November before all the stress of Christmas begins? Use one of the many great mindfulness apps to help you get your stress levels and thoughts in check before the festive season begins.
December
Merry Christmas! Why not raise a glass or two to celebrate? Make sure it’s no more than two, though, as all that alcohol has lots of hidden calories and sugar. Enjoy the festive season in moderation if you don’t want to diet too hard over the next few months…
January
Did you enjoy Christmas and the New Year a little too much? No problem; we’ve all been there. You just need to reign it in over January. In fact, more and more people are giving up alcohol for the whole month! If you feel that you want to ditch this habit for good, it could be good to check in at the recovery village. There are lots of great services and resources you can use to help escape any addictions.
February
Feeling a bit chilly? February sure is one of the colder months, so it really pays to wrap up well whenever you go outside. Don’t let your body temperature drop too low, as this will put the body at risk of certain viruses and infections. It also makes it a lot tougher for your immune system to respond when it is most needed.
March
You’re almost at the end of your whole year of healthiness! Do you want to give it one final push to lose a couple of those extra pounds that won’t shift? Why not cut down your meal portions. Many people find that portion control greatly aids their weight loss.
April
Now is the season for April showers! But did you know that the weather can actually have an affect on our bodies? A change in the weather means that the pressure in the atmosphere has changed. These changes in pressure can cause pain in some people’s joints, especially those who suffer from arthritis. If you notice some odd aches and pains whenever the weather changes, it might be a sign to see your doctor!
May
Do you have a summer vacation coming up? If so, you should check to see if you need a vaccination before you go. Many destinations throughout India, Southeast Asia, and Africa are still rife with certain diseases and illnesses – make sure you are protected so that you don’t bring any upsetting health conditions back with you!
Hopefully, all of these great tips should help you enjoy a full bill of health for the whole year! But why keep them all to yourself? Share them with a friend so that you can enjoy this journey to better health and fitness together!
