What We Thought:
Being able to present our son who is 3 1/2 with a Bible that I know he understands a lot better than something made for adults was a huge highlight of our Christmas. A little back story is that we assigned him a Bible verse as his Life Verse when he was born. This was more my task as his mother to give him something to look to when he was having a hard time. I wanted that to be a part of his Bible now and any other Bible he will have throughout his life that we as his parents present him with.
His verse was kind of borrowed from an incident that happened locally where a young lady was involved in a car accident and her own mother shared her life verse and while Jack was a tiny baby it really struck me and called me to make it his verse as well. The verse is John 13:7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
Being able to give Jack this Bible as a Christmas gift and write a special note to him was a great memory. We were able to capture it in pictures and he knows that Christmas isn’t just about toys, candy and fun but also giving and helping others.
This Bible has beautiful art on each page and we have already spent a lot of time looking through it and reading together. This is starting him off young for a lifestyle of Bible reading, although maybe not daily but to know it is there if he wants to.
If you are looking for a great Bible for young children I highly recommend The Beginners Bible.
