Room Going Spare? Why Not Create An Incredible Entertainment Den?
Many homeowners have that ‘awkward’ spare room that no one ever uses and is little more than an extra storage area. If this sounds familiar, I’m pretty sure you have ummed and ahhed about making a change. If you are stuck for ideas, why not try this one out? Transform your spare room into a wonderful entertainment den for you and your children to enjoy. Here’s everything you might want to include for the perfect entertainment space.
Think comfort
First of all, think comfort when you are coming up with your ideas. Your entertainment den is a place for chilling, watching great movies, playing cool games, and even relaxing to music with a good book. So, your first job is to choose some soothing, natural colors that don’t draw too much focus away from the entertainment on offer. You should also think about carpeting the room. Not only will it give you a cozy feel underfoot, but carpet and underlay also have soundproofing qualities.
The TV
Let’s be honest, the primary focus in your entertainment room will be your TV. And you don’t have to have the concerns you might have of buying an enormous one, either. Sure, a 60-inch plus TV might not be a great look when you have guests over for dinner parties. But in an entertainment-specific room, it’s almost a must-have. My advice would be to grab a smart TV so that it can act as a hub for all the other entertainment in your room. Mount it on the wall, too, to give you some extra floorspace. Slap in your games consoles, Blu-ray player and stereo system, and you have everything you need in one place.
The seating
Seating is of vital importance for any room geared towards watching movies and relaxing. You could go for something like a sofa bed if you need space for guests. But if you can, I would recommend looking around for some huge bean bag chairs. You and the kids should be able to snuggle up with more than enough space, plus you can move it anywhere in the room you like.
Lighting
Lighting is another important factor for your entertainment den. You will need a dimmer switch as an absolute minimum. You could also think about installing some colored bulbs to create wonderful mood lighting – stick them into some lamps and dot them about the place at different levels. Could you put in a wood burner? It’s worth checking, as sitting by the fire while being transported to other realms in movies or games is about as comfy as it gets.
Storage
Finally, don’t forget about including lots of storage. While the world is moving towards digital everything, there will still be games, Blu-ray cases, and books flying around. And the very nature of a relaxing entertainment den is that they tend to be a little on the disorganized side! So, by putting enough storage in and giving everything its own home, you will find it much easier to keep clean and tidy for your next session.
