The Spirit of God Illustrated Bible brings to life more than 40 Bible stories that help readers understand that God’s Spirit has been with us since the beginning of time and continues to be with us today. From the glory of creation through the powerful letters of Paul, God’s Spirit is living in his people. Old and New Testament stories such as Adam and Eve, Abraham, Joseph, the Baptism of Jesus, and Pentecost come alive with dramatic illustrations by Fernando Juarez and moving text by Doris Rikkers. With a cover that sparkles and shines with foil, this is a special storybook Bible that will appeal to both children and parents alike.
Author Bio: Doris Rikkers is a freelance writer and editor who has written many bestselling children’s books and Bibles. Although she loves the ocean, she lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, surrounded by her books, her flower gardens, and her family and friends.
Illustrator Bio: Spanish artist Fernando Juarez illustrates children’s books and works as an art supervisor at the Madrid studio Ilion Animation. The company produces 3D feature films for children. Fernando has three kids himself, and if he has any time left after work and family, you might catch him playing guitar in a rock band.
What We Thought:
Our homeschooling year began this week and the Spirit of God Illustrated Bible has found a place at the start of every Tuesday which is our Bible Study day. We have made time each Tuesday to begin our homeschooling week with the word of God as well as worksheets and other fun Bible based projects along with our typical school day.
I love that this Bible is both easy to understand for all ages and features brilliant artwork as well as a great way to learn in story form. The book is divided up into over 40 stories. This will last us many weeks and at over 300 pages each is filled with beauty and wonder.
We have enjoyed this journey so much and while it is new for us, we know that with great literature like the Spirit of God Illustrated Bible we will have years of learning enjoyment to come. Jack & Willie are both learning together and while Willie is quite young at only 18 months he loves to sit and listen to stories as much as Jack does so we make this our together time during the school day as we learn about the love that God has for us all.
