Etch A Sketch
I received the mentioned products from Etch A Sketch in exchange for an honest review. The thoughts contained within this post are mine and may vary from the thoughts of others.
Etch A Sketch is such a timeless toy that I am enjoying using now with my children just as my parents enjoyed using with me. Recently we got to review 3 varieties of Etch A Sketch and they each have their own fun perks.
Etch A Sketch Classic
This is the version that I grew up with. It was also a familiar toy with my parents.
For more than 50 years, children and adults alike have been discovering the magical world of creativity and pencil-free drawing with Classic Etch A Sketch! The iconic frame, easy-to-use knobs, classic magic screen and shake-to-erase feature — not to mention the endless hours of fun it provides — have made it popular all around the world! Sketch, erase, and sketch again with Etch A Sketch.
I fully admit to enjoying this after my kids went to bed at night and love that it is still the exact same “shake to erase” style that I remember. So much fun and a simple design that our 4 1/2 year old has really enjoyed playing with.
Etch A Sketch Classic is on Amazon for $26.99 and is a Prime product so still time to get it to your door in time for Christmas!
Etch A Sketch Freestyle Drawing Pad with Stylus & Stampers
This is a new way to sketch but I have to say I am impressed. I had no experience with the Etch A Sketch brand prior to this review other than the Classic version shown above. Here is a description from their website:
The next generation has a new classic to play with! Introducing Etch A Sketch Freestyle: a toy from the past transformed for the future. Designed exclusively for young artists, the Freestyle comes with a handy stylus that’s easy to grip and move. Kids can express their creativity without any messy clean up. Simply draw, shake to erase, and draw again – just like you did! Only now, your child has a whole new world of etching possibilities to discover. Alternate between thick and thin lines or use the double-sided stampers to add hearts, circles, stars and clouds to doodles. Since inspiration can strike anywhere, the classic red frame of the original has been flattened into a sleek and lightweight drawing pad. Throw it in a backpack and take it on a trip! Get creative, wherever you are, with the Etch A Sketch Freestyle!
The Freestyle has been a huge hit in our home and we have been able to create lots of fun messages and pictures with each other. I am a huge fan of the rainbow coloring and although it did take me a bit to learn the technique on how to erase this one (takes a more vigorous shaking than the other versions) we have really enjoyed this one! The stampers are a fun addition to an already cool system of drawing with the pen. This has been a great addition to our homeschooling as well teaching Jack to write while having fun.
Also available on Amazon (enjoy those Prime benefits, y’all) we love the Etch A Sketch Freestyle!
Etch A Sketch Jr Joystick Drawing Pad
Last but certainly not least is the Etch A Sketch Jr and in comes a funny story. November 1st I had outpatient surgery (a post will be coming in the New Year about it after we wrap up the Holiday Gift Guide) and I had to have my mom come over and help with the boys. My husband took me to have surgery in the wee hours of the morning and I was due home by noon. Sure enough 11:45 I came home and found Mom drawing away with this. She was having just as much fun as the boys (maybe more). We have found this one to be the easiest for Jack to use as far as learning to control the drawing as opposed to the Classic version. The Jr has also been introduced to our 9 1/2 month old because he really seems to enjoy playing with the joystick and creating his own artwork.
This is so easy to use; another shake to erase product and is absolutely perfect. From the Etch A Sketch website:
Spark creativity and bring out your little one’s inner artist with the Etch A Sketch Joystick. This paperless drawing pad is a modern take on the iconic toy. Updated for younger artists, the two dials at the bottom of the frame are now one easy-to-use joystick that swivels 360 degrees! Toddlers will develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination drawing loops, lines and circles. When it’s time to begin again, simply shake to erase! With no clean up needed, this drawing pad gives kids the freedom to delve into their creativity and express themselves, even at a young age. Since little hands can only hold so much, the iconic red frame of the original has been transformed into a vertical design, so kids can hold and doodle. Introduce your toddler to the joy of drawing with the Etch A Sketch Joystick!
Get the Etch A Sketch Joystick from Amazon as well with their add-on program and you will love the price of only $3.99.
So that wraps up our review of the Etch A Sketch line and all of its amazing products for people both young and old. We are happy campers with everything and think your little ones will be too.
