How to Prepare Your Body for Summer

Over the winter months, it’s easy to stay covered up and focus on being comfy and cozy. Being wrapped up all winter can mean that when the warmer weather finally arrives, our bodies need a little bit of TLC to get them feeling great again. It’s always a good idea to start prepping your body for summer early so that you don’t feel panicked and unprepared when the hot weather arrives.

Preparing your body for summer isn’t about achieving a bikini body, because of course there’s no body that can’t wear a bikini, this is all about taking care of yourself and your skin in preparation for a summer full of fun and sunshine with family and friends.

Get Smooth

If you’re someone that usually shaves their body hair, it can so easy to let this part of your routine slide over the winter. After all, when you’re wearing your cozy layers, no one notices if your legs are a little on the hairy side, right!

For anyone that’s a fan of a smoother look over the summer when wearing shorts, skirts, dresses, and swimsuits, achieving a hair-free finish can be a bit of a challenge. If you usually wax, remember to book in at the salon early in case they get busy as summer approaches and everyone in town is in need of some de-fuzzing. If you fancy a more straightforward method to staying smooth, which will save you time in the long term, laser hair removal can be an excellent option for both men and women to get rid of unwanted hair.

Prep Your Skin

The cold weather can take its toll on skin, especially with the combination of the drying effects of heating and our skin being hidden beneath layers of clothing. Luckily, there are lots of ways to remedy this; dry body brushing is a great way to improve lymphatic drainage and boost circulation, both dry body brushing, and body scrubs are also ideal for getting rid of those dead skin cells.

Don’t forget to use a body lotion after showering to give your skin a moisture boost. Ensure that you pay extra attention to moisturizing those problem areas such as the knees and elbows which are prone to dry skin.

Treat Your Feet

If winter has taken its toll on your feet, and they’re not looking ready for sandals, why not book in for a pedicure? A pedicure can help to remove that annoying hard skin build up that seems to occur around the heels and is a lovely, relaxing experience too. Getting your feet pampered always feels really good, and provides the perfect opportunity to have a beautiful summery nail color applied to your toes.

Confidence

Feeling body confident is always the best way to feel ready for summer. Body confidence isn’t dependent on being a specific size before it’s time to wear a bikini. Body confidence is all about taking care of your body because you appreciate it and want to feel great.
