How to set up a dartboard step by step: Quick guide


 

Setting up a dartboard may seem like a simple task at first glance. You just hang it on an empty wall that’s all done! Right.

Wrong.

There are lots of things which you have to consider while setting up a dartboard so you will get safe and have good experience of throwing a dart.

First, you have to take an idea of the size and type of dartboard you want to buy, and there are different types of dartboard come in the market. So you have to decide which dartboard is best according to your requirements. Like if you are buying it for kids, adults then magnetic dartboard is a good option. If you are a professional player, then you should purchase a bristle or electronic dartboard. For durable and long-term, you should go for a high-quality dartboard; however, they are expensive than other dartboards.

Surrounding and location of the dartboard

Now, after selecting a dartboard, its time to choose a perfect place to set up you are dartboard. This is where most of people make their first mistake- not consider the surrounding.

Pick up a space on the wall where there is no fragile object, furniture, door, window or any other object. Make sure there is no close object where you place your dartboard. The wall should be 10 feet long and 6 feet wide, and it should be empty.

The floor space between the wall and dart throwing line should be clear, empty, and there should not be any obstacle between them. The ideal space between dartboard and throwing line should be 5 feet 8 inches as per the rule of the official dartboard corporation. However, you can have more or less space if you are not a professional player.

You should also have appropriate space for spectators and other players so they can enjoy and participate in the game. Also, your dartboard is away from doorways, busy area, so your spectator and player are safe from any injury.

Protect walls and floor

Now you have a perfect place to set up your dartboard. The next step is to protect your wall. By chance is you miss-throw your dart, then the sharp tip of the dart will damage your walls, and simultaneously hard surface of your wall will damage tips of the dart.

Similarly, if your dart by any reason falls on the floor, then in this situation, they both damage each other.

So that’s why you have to protect your wall and floor. To protect your wall, you have to place a wooden board or dartboard cabinet around the dartboard area. The size of the protective board should be at-least 4×4 feet.

To protect the floor, you should place the dart mat on the floor between dartboard and dart throw line. It is a rubber, thick mat that protects the floor and darts from being damage.

Height and length measurement

Know with the help of mount, place your dartboard on the upper center of the dartboard cabinet. According to Official rules states that the center of the bulls eye needs to be exactly 5 feet 8 inches high from the floor. So you should mount the dartboard at this height.

Now draw a dart throw line with the help of tape or sticker or anything which you are comfortable with. The distance between the dartboard bull eye and throw line should be 7 feet 9.25 inches.

Now everything is ready you can enjoy the game of darts with your friends and family.
