Nature’s Own Bread Products Are Here!  New in New England !

Back in October I published an article for Nature’s Own on my other blog about their new Oatmeal Toaster’s , you can read that post here at Fishing For Savings .  They had sent my family and I some to try and we absolutely loved them.  I was kind of disappointed because we were not going to be able to purchase them in our stores,  Nature’s Own had not made its way to our area yet.  When I emailed my representative from Nature’s Own she let me know that they had acquired a bakery in Maine and product would be hitting our shelves some time in December.  Well, with Christmas and the holidays I was so busy that I forgot all about this.   Then, one day in January we were grocery shopping and like there they were!   Nature’s Own products all over the bread section of the store!  YAY!   I was so excited about this that I emailed my representative almost immediately when I got home, I had to tell her we found them!

Our store had three different products   :   Butterbread, 100% Whole Wheat Sandwich Rolls and Honey 7 Grain Bread

NO

Butterbread-    The Butterbread is from Nature’s Own white bread line and is a great alternative to my husband spreading butter on every single piece of bread he ever has.  This man will eat Peanut ButterAND Butter sandwiches, his reason …  “It tastes good”.   So of course I thought of him when I saw this bread.  The butter flavor of the bread is just enough that he now only uses Peanut Butter,  but it will not interfere with the taste of your sandwich either.  For example,  he had a ham and cheese with tomato and lettuce and said that he did not really taste the butter flavor.  I think as with anything, there are probably certain instances where the flavor would be more pronounced.   This is a nice change from your every day white bread,  it is more thick and I noticed it did not tear when spreading something on it.   In my store this was priced at $1.99 which, honestly was only about 30¢ more than our cheap white bread I usually buy him, it is worth the little extra.  (pricing may vary regionally)

100% Whole Wheat Sandwich Rolls-  My oldest daughter and I do not eat white bread, we eat only whole wheat or grain breads that contain over 3 grams of fiber per serving.  What a lot of people may not realize is that when purchasing a wheat bread, that is what you should base your purchase on if you are being health conscious.  A lot of cheap wheat breads will contain about 1 gram of fiber, you might as well eat the white bread.  These sandwich rolls are 100% whole wheat and contain 4 grams of fiber per serving. Not only that, but there is 6 grams of protein, that is a lot for bread.  This will help make you feel full and keep you feeling fuller for longer.   The bun itself is so soft and fresh.   I slightly toasted the buns for my daughter and I who had boneless BBQ chicken sandwiches and my husband had a big fat burger (of course).  They held up really well to the juicy, cheesy, veggie topped mess of a burger he ate.  If you like wheat bread, you will love these.  If you are not a fan of wheat of bread,  I think you should try them, the flavor is subtle enough that it may be a good start for you to get use to the change!   These were $2.19 in my store,  about 80¢ more than the “hamburger” buns I would normally buy,  again absolutely worth the extra. Honey 7 Grain Bread-   This bread was my absolute favorite!   I have always preferred a really hearty, whole grain bread.  This bread is made with 7 whole grains including :  corn, wheat, rye, rice, millet, barley and oat  and is certified to have 8 grams of whole grain per serving.  The bread is lightly sweetened with honey which makes it great for eating right out of the bag with a very thin layer of real butter.  Delicious.   It makes a great toast or as my daughter was having it ,  with smoked honey ham for school lunch.  The bread is thick, hearty and dense but not overly heavy.   This was $2.19 in my store and I usually pay $2.99 for a whole grain bread, so score!

Nature’s Own products are  free of artificial preservatives, colors and flavors and contain no high fructose corn syrup.  If you have not tried their breads I highly recommend it .   From what I have seen,  they offer a really great product with everything I look for in a bread for just above the “cheap” store brand prices.  I would say I saw maybe 2 brands less expensive than Nature’s Own and about 6 brands that were more expensive, so they seem to have it all !   Taste, Value, Health and a HUGE line of products.

Head over to their website to check out the rest of the goodies, you will be amazed at how many different types of breads.
