O’Keefe’s Working Hands & Feet Cream Product Review
The roots of O’Keeffe’s Company go back more than 25 years to an arid region on the California-Oregon border known as the Klamath Basin. Bill O’Keeffe was a rancher who loved working with his hands. The tough lifestyle, however, took its toll on his hands and feet. Feeling helpless due to her father’s severe dry skin, his daughter, Tara, was driven to find a better product than the traditional moisturizers on the market.
Applying her skills as a pharmacist, Tara and her father spent years creating and testing various formulations mixed in her kitchen, until, many years later, she developed a product that worked better than all the others he had tried. This was the basic formula for what has become O’Keeffe’s Working Hands.
What we reviewed
We received a container of O’Keefe’s Working Hands and Feet for the purpose of this review. I was pretty excited when I found this company online because I have always had an issue with dry hands. I work with a lot a water and chemicals in my hair styling profession and that dries my hands.
What I learned
Most of my lotions contain a large amount or water, and I always thought “how do these moisturize my hands if water dries my skin out?”
Well, O’Keefe’s has a different perspective on this. They say it is not the water base that is an issue, their thought is basically that the reasons my lotions do not work is the fact that they contain too many oils.
Those oils block water from entering the skin and keeping it hydrated. So O’Keefe’s created a non oil based formula that, instead of repelling water, will actually attract and dry water into the skin to keep it moisturized.
I used these products off and on for 2 weeks noticing a huge difference in my feet and hands. I used them more like a treatment than I did an every day lotion, though it does state on the packaging that they are an every day product.
At night I applied the Healthy Feet and wore my “fuzzy” socks to bed. It does not take a huge amount of this lotion, they product is very thick and highly concentrated so use only a small amount at a time.
For the Working Hands, I used this after doing dishes or being outside working around the yard and shoveling. My hands did not feel tight and itchy after just a few uses. This time of year really takes a toll on my hands and this helped a lot.
